Wimbledon Ancient Golf Society
Minutes of Meeting of the Committee at the Rose & Crown, Wimbledon
Monday November 5th 2007

Present Gerry Robinson (GR) (Chairman), Rhod James (RJ), Chris Bunning (CB), John Stembridge (JS), Mike Beament (MB)

Apologies Richard Latham (RL), Gerry McGuffie (GM), Steve Stoner (SS)

1. Previous Meeting
RJ produced the Minutes of the AGM that took place on Tuesday 18th September 2007. These were approved

2. 2008 Fixtures
Those present reviewed an email from RL dated 3rd November, setting out 2008 proposals. It was agreed that the 2008 fixture list should be as follows:-

There was some debate about the October event. Bob Hill has suggested we move from Bushey Hall to Grimsdyke. Those present were not in favour of that venue. It was suggested that RL/Bob Hill look at Lamerwood in Wheathampstead. (Nice pub nearby - The Brocket Arms!).
It was also noted that there are only two Saturday events planned for 2008. RL/Bob Hill should explore the possibility of booking Lamerwood for a Saturday in October.

3. Handicaps
MB will be away from mid-December to sometime late in June 2008. In his absence, GM will deputise as Handicap Secretary. In the meantime MB will do a quick review of handicaps before the Pine Ridge event to ensure the website is up to date.

4. Finances
CB reported we have 3,917 in current account, and 790 on deposit making a total of 4,707. That splits between 1,847 members funds, 12 in the hole in one fund with a balance of 2,848 by way of Society money. It was provisionally agreed that CB will put 1,000 aside at the end of the season, towards the next major tour fund.

5. Membership
There was no news about new members. Once again concern was expressed about the lack of "new blood". It was agreed that every committee member will set about locating one prospective new member during 2008.

6. Other Business
There was nothing to report in relation to either merchandise or the website. RL was requested not to book the January 2008 social event without consulting further with the committee.
