RICHMOND FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR COMMITTEE
THE FIREWORKS MAY BE LATE BUT THEY ARE STILL ON!
The Richmond Fireworks Spectacular Committee took a difficult but necessary decision at 3pm Saturday 4 November, based on very severe weather predictions for the following evening. It was decided to postpone the fireworks display for public health and safety reasons.
Once the decision to postpone was taken, the Committee went smoothly into action. Posters around the Borough were replaced rapidly with new ones. Most London radio stations were contacted in time, and they were able to get the word out. There was only one single complaint received against the decision, which most felt was necessary.
Cancellation at this point seemed out of the question, due to the very great interest that this event has attracted. The Committee was fortunate in being able to find an alternative date relatively soon, and all parties, including the Mayor and Dr Jenny Tonge, are able to attend as before. Everything will be in place as before, except the weather, which we can only pray will be better!
Indeed, with an extra two weeks to prepare, and with all tickets remaining on sale, the Committee promise an even bigger and better event!
Therefore, on Sunday 19 November, there will be once again there will be a funfair, jazz band, sideshows, Scottish Pipers and Drums, Barbeque, Roasted Hog, Beer Tent, and tombola. Gates will open at 4.30pm. Our local Richmond Park MP, Dr Jenny Tonge, will open the fireworks display themselves at 7.30pm. The Mayor has also accepted an invitation to attend, as have selected local Councillors.
Tickets remain on sale. As they are limited, advance booking for a discounted price is recommended, and they can be purchased from the Orange Tree pub, A&E Robbins at 12 Station Parade, Kew Gardens, Richmond and London Scottish Clubs' shop on weekends, and, the WH Smith kiosk at Richmond Station. Advance tickets are £4 adults, £2 children, £10 family of four. Any tickets already sold remain valid.
